Conflicting information has circulated in recent hours regarding the date of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, fueling confusion between rumors of a postponement and assurances that the original schedule will be maintained.
CAN 2027: Should we believe in a possible postponement?

The British daily The Guardian recently reported that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is considering pushing the tournament to 2028. This idea stems from concerns about the readiness of the co-hosting countries – Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
According to the English media, doubts remain about the infrastructure, the ability to host a tournament with 24 teams across 10 cities, and some organizational challenges noted during the last CHAN edition.
On the flip side, journalist Micky Jnr, known to be close to CAF’s governing bodies, insists that no official decision to postpone has been made and that CAN 2027 is still scheduled for the planned dates.
According to the South African journalist, the countries involved in the “Pamoja 2027” project are honoring their contractual commitments. Tanzania and Uganda have already paid $30 million to CAF, as required by the hosting agreement, while Kenya is finalizing the necessary steps to fulfill its contribution.
In this climate of uncertainty, the upcoming CAF Executive Committee meeting promises to be decisive in determining and officially clarifying the future of CAN 2027.
