Algerian international Youcef Belaïli (53 caps, 9 goals) has met with the president of MC Alger to discuss his future at the club.

As a key figure in the Algerian league with MCA, being both the top scorer and top assist provider for his team, Youcef Belaïli has exceeded expectations in his first season in Algiers. Despite occasional outbursts that need to be addressed, the 32-year-old winger, under contract until 2025, seems to have earned recognition from the club management.

Reports from Africa Foot United suggest that a meeting took place between Belaïli, formerly of Ajaccio, and MCA president Hakim Hadj-Redjem. Given Belaïli’s performances, his rapport with coach Patrice Beaumelle, and the strong support he enjoys from fans, the club’s leader has reportedly decided to extend his star player’s contract.

A salary increase is on the cards, with Belaïli already being the highest-paid player in the league. It’s said to be around 15%, contingent upon winning major titles in the upcoming season, notably the CAF Champions League, provided the club qualifies.

According to AFU, the club’s management is ambitious about claiming the continental trophy and plans to strengthen the squad significantly in the summer transfer window. This was also discussed between Belaïli and his president. Several potential signings have been identified, including Riyad Boudebouz (Ohod Club) and his teammate Haris Belkebla (formerly of Brest), both nearing the end of their contracts this summer, along with Yousri Bouzok (Raja Casablanca) and Zakaria Draoui (Wydad Casablanca). Hadj-Redjem believes the experience of former Ligue 1 players will be invaluable for the club’s return to the Champions League next season.

With his position secured at the club, Belaïli now aims to make a comeback to the national team after missing out in March.
