Regarding Guinea’s participation in AFCON 2025, Sports Minister Kéamou Bogola Haba sought to reassure Guinean supporters amidst growing concerns.

In a recent statement, he confidently declared: “Guinea is not eliminated from AFCON 2025,” emphasizing that the situation could still turn in favor of the national team due to a complaint filed with the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

This legal initiative aims to challenge irregularities observed during Guinea’s recent match against Tanzania, which ended in a 1-0 defeat for Guinea.

The Guinean Football Federation (FGF) highlighted an irregularity involving a Tanzanian player who reportedly wore a jersey with the number 26, while the official match sheet listed him as number 24.

This anomaly, described as an “administrative error” by Guinean officials, constitutes a violation of CAF regulations. If Guinea’s complaint is deemed admissible and Tanzania is found guilty, Guinea could be awarded a victory by default.

“We have filed a protest against Tanzania for observed irregularities. CAF regulations are clear on this matter. We have the right to hope for a favorable response,” stated Sports Minister Kéamou Bogola Haba, bolstering the hopes of Guinean supporters.

The minister explained that the final decision on Guinea’s complaint would depend on the findings of the match commissioner’s report, which is currently under review.

Additionally, Haba criticized the organization of the match against Tanzania, highlighting unfavorable factors such as controversial refereeing and a last-minute change to the kickoff time. According to him, these elements negatively impacted the Syli National’s performance, fueling growing discontent among Guinean fans.

Despite the uncertainties, Kéamou Bogola Haba urged fans to remain optimistic and continue supporting their national team. Should Guinea’s complaint succeed, the Syli National could still secure a spot in the prestigious AFCON 2025, set to take place in Morocco.

CAF’s final decision, expected in the coming days, will be crucial for the future of the Syli National, as their participation in the tournament hinges on this verdict.
