Prompted by the National Union of Cameroonian Footballers (Synafoc), led by Geremi Njitap, FIFA has imposed a financial penalty on the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) and its president, Samuel Eto’o.

Geremi Njitap appears resolute in challenging his rival, Samuel Eto’o. Having already been behind a fine of 6 million FCFA (approximately €2,600) against Fecafoot in August, the Synafoc director strikes again, targeting the organization’s finances. This move follows his removal from the Executive Committee of the federation.

Committed to defending the rights of local players, particularly through his “Salary Barometer” initiative—which aims to ensure the payment of salary arrears and has been recognized by FIFPro—Geremi Njitap has once again targeted Fecafoot over similar failures to fulfill its obligations to players.

Once more, Fecafoot finds itself compelled to open its wallet!

Echoing a situation from four months ago, the federation led by Samuel Eto’o has been penalized for failing to enforce payment by a “defaulting payer”—this time, Djiko FC of Bandjoun. The second-division Cameroonian club had been ordered by FIFA’s National Dispute Resolution Chamber (NDRC) on June 2, 2023, to pay 3.62 million FCFA (approximately €5,546) to player Meuvungou Alexy for wrongful termination.

Despite Fecafoot’s directive on March 20, 2023, requiring Djiko FC to settle the debt, no enforcement measures were taken. Consequently, the federation has been fined 1,000 Swiss francs (about €1,073), as per the NDRC’s ruling on November 27. The decision warns that harsher penalties could follow, including a 20% withholding of Fecafoot’s funds, as stipulated by Article 21 of FIFA’s Disciplinary Code.

Prompted by the National Union of Cameroonian Footballers (Synafoc), led by Geremi Njitap, FIFA has imposed a financial penalty on the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) and its president, Samuel Eto’o.
