The Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, stepped in to clarify the situation surrounding the postponement of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. He emphasized that this decision does not come from Morocco, but is solely from the African Football Confederation (CAF).
The Moroccan official aimed to defuse accusations suggesting that his country might use this situation to contest its defeat in the 2025 AFCON. “The decision was made by CAF. Morocco is ready to host the competition at any time, whether it’s now or in three months,” he stated firmly.

Originally scheduled from March 17 to April 3, 2026, the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations has been rescheduled to July 25 to August 16, 2026. This postponement has sparked numerous reactions in public opinion and forces the participating teams to readjust their preparations, both in terms of sports and logistics.
