Hazard reveals why a transfer to Barça was impossible

At the “Match for Hope,” Eden Hazard reflected on his career and the big clubs he played for.

Retired since 2023, the Belgian continues to closely follow football and plays occasionally for fun. At the event held in Qatar, which brought together influencers and legends like Thierry Henry, Marcelo, Franck Ribéry, and Gerard Piqué, Hazard was seen chatting with Marlon about his journey.

Despite the challenges he faced in Spain, Hazard has never denied his attachment to Real Madrid. On the contrary, he believes that the Merengues remain the greatest club he has ever belonged to.

When asked about the comparison with Chelsea, he was clear: “No, Real Madrid is above… My time at Chelsea was incredible, but as a club, Real Madrid is the top, number 1.”

Eden Hazard’s career will forever be linked to three clubs: Lille, Chelsea, and Real Madrid. He first shone in France, then confirmed his star status in London, racking up titles and world-class performances. His time in Madrid, however, left a bitter taste: plagued by injuries and a level never regained, it remains an unfinished chapter of his career. Yet, Hazard has no regrets, quite the opposite.

When Marlon asked him about a possible offer from Barça during his time at Real, he was adamant: “No, I would have refused. My dream has always been to play for Real Madrid since I was young. I always told my father that one day I wanted to play for Real. Of course, Barça is a great club, their style of play, Messi… all that… But…” He pounds his chest with emotion. “Hala Madrid, my friend!” he concludes, with unwavering passion for the club of his dreams.
