The confirmation that worries about Achraf Hakimi

Back in Paris after competing in the AFCON with Morocco, Achraf Hakimi is facing a new physical issue.

After suffering a severe ankle sprain in early November against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, the PSG right-back did everything he could to be fit in time for AFCON 2025. He succeeded, playing every minute of the knockout stage with the Atlas Lions.

Still reeling from the final defeat, Hakimi returned to the capital determined to turn the page. He started against Newcastle in the Champions League (1-1) and followed it up the next weekend in Strasbourg, where he was ultimately sent off.

Suspended for the Classique on Sunday, Achraf Hakimi will have to watch the clash against OM from the stands. It’s a clear frustration for the Moroccan, but this forced break might actually do him some good.

According to journalist Said Amdaa, the 27-year-old right-back is still feeling persistent pain, a lingering effect of his injury from November. This rest comes at a perfect time for him to recover fully.

“Achraf Hakimi is still playing with pain. He played the entire AFCON with ongoing discomfort and gritted his teeth because he knew what it meant for Morocco. But people don’t see that,” the journalist shared on X.

He added, “He continues with PSG despite the pain to not let the team down. He is so invested in the project that he is devastated to have received this red card that keeps him out of the Classique.” This third clash of the season between PSG and OM will take place this Sunday at 20:45 at Parc des Princes.
