An Algerian international player shared his prediction about a potential Morocco-Algeria match in the semifinals of the 2025 AFCON.

In an interview with Foot Mercato, Rafik Belghali expressed his regrets about not having the chance to play a potential Morocco-Algeria match during this tournament.
“Do I regret not playing a Morocco-Algeria semifinal? Of course,” said the Hellas Verona player. “The last meeting was back in 2010 (2011 according to some sources). We really hoped to play this match, we were already thinking about it. I hope to have the chance, at least once in my career, to face Morocco. I have many Moroccan friends in Belgium, it would be an exceptional match.”
“With our squad, I think we could have won,” Rafik Belghali shared. “We talked about it, of course, but our priority was the match against Nigeria. Unfortunately, we couldn’t win. That’s probably the match everyone was waiting for…”
“Could Algeria have won? Absolutely! It’s a very special encounter. With our group, I truly believe we had what it takes to win,” the player added. His statements could spark reactions in Morocco.
