The president of Real Madrid recently issued a wake-up call to several members of his squad, Spanish media report.
Real Madrid seems to have found its smile again. After a gloomy period at the Bernabéu just two weeks ago, Álvaro Arbeloa’s team is now on a roll, with three consecutive victories. Among them, a true spectacle against Monaco in the Champions League (6-1) and a tough match against Villarreal this weekend in the league, which they ultimately won 2-0. The performances on the pitch are also more encouraging, with a more incisive team in possession and attacking players moving with greater freedom and confidence.

Of course, Álvaro Arbeloa—who was still facing many questions in Madrid—now receives plenty of praise, especially for his management of the locker room, which seems to be very effective so far. Unlike Xabi Alonso, the former right-back has managed to win over the team’s leaders and gain their support. But Cadena SER sheds interesting light on this significant improvement.
Pérez slams his fist on the table
The resurgence in level and discipline observed in several Real Madrid players isn’t solely down to Álvaro Arbeloa. According to the Spanish media, Florentino Pérez has held private discussions with some players to “tighten the screws” and ensure a favorable environment for the new coach. During these one-on-one talks, the club president urged these players to adopt a more professional attitude and deliver better performances on the pitch.
Cadena SER even reveals the names of those involved: Jude Bellingham, Franco Mastantuono, Arda Güler, Fede Valverde, and Eduardo Camavinga. Coincidence or not, these five players have significantly improved their level in the first matches under Arbeloa compared to their performances at the end of Xabi Alonso’s tenure. The current Real Madrid coach can therefore thank his president for this crucial boost.
