Algerian national coach Djamel Belmadi has unveiled the final list of players who will represent Algeria at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, to be held in Côte d’Ivoire from January 13 to February 11.
The list, which comes as no surprise, comprises 27 players, almost all of whom play abroad and 10 in Algeria. The list includes key players such as Riyad Mahrez, Aissa Mandi, Islam Slimani and Ramy Bensebaini.
We note the return of veterans M’bolhi and Youcef Belaili, Bennacer’s return from injury and the absence of young Bouanani. Most of the players have already taken part in several international competitions, including CAN 2019 and 2022.
Belmadi opts for experience
This experience will be an important asset for Algeria, who are aiming for a third continental title. The Fennecs have already won the CAN in 1990 and 2019. In addition to their experience, Algeria also boast a well-stocked squad. The players on this list all have experience of African competition, which can make all the difference.
Algeria’s ambition is to win the CAN 2024. It’s an ambitious goal, but the Fennecs have the means to achieve it. The team is experienced, competitive and has experienced players. According to the experts, with the right preparation, Algeria has every chance of realizing its dream.
