Youcef Tazir, President of the National Organization of Sports Journalists, has weighed in on the dispute involving the Union Sportive de la Médina d’Alger (USMA) and the Moroccan club Nahdat Berkane, while also taking a swipe at CAF!

According to Tazir, it is logical not to play the return match as long as Nahdat Berkane persists in using jerseys that do not comply with regulatory standards. This statement raises concerns about adherence to rules and standards in international sports competitions.

Tazir also criticized what he perceives as bias from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) towards USMA. He believes the Moroccan club has no right to play using unauthorized equipment and calls on CAF to reconsider its stance.

“For me, the decision not to play the return match as long as the opponent insists on playing with jerseys that are not compliant with the law is logical. Unfortunately, there is complacency from CAF towards USMA, and Nahdat Berkane has no right to play with these jerseys. CAF must rethink its approach and refrain from getting involved in matters that could lead to its downfall because the rules are clear,” said Tazir.

Emphasizing the importance of respecting rules, Tazir warns against any involvement of CAF in decisions that could compromise its integrity. He highlights that the rules are clear, and their fair application is essential to ensure fairness and credibility in competitions.

Tazir’s stance sheds light on governance and integrity issues in African football, while underscoring the importance of adhering to standards and regulations to ensure fair and transparent competitions.
