The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, will be visiting Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in December 2024.
The purpose of the visit is to assess progress on the stadiums and infrastructure required to host the TotalEnergies 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The tournament, which runs from February 1 to 28, 2025, will be a first, as it will be co-hosted by three countries: Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The CHAN is a competition reserved for players playing in their respective national leagues.
While in Tanzania, Patrice Motsepe will chair a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee. Discussions will focus on the progress of preparations for CHAN 2024, as well as the investigations by the Joint Governance and Audit Commission into allegations of non-compliance in the management of the CAF Secretariat. Another important item on the agenda will be the CAF Awards, scheduled for December 16, 2024 in Morocco.
The eighth edition of the CHAN will mark a return to the CECAFA zone, following editions held in Sudan in 2011 and Rwanda in 2016.
