Following the group stage of the 2023/2024 African inter-club competitions, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the ranking of the top twelve leagues on the continent.
CAF Ranking: North African Countries Dominate the Podium!
As expected, North African countries dominate the podium. Egypt rightfully claims the top spot, thanks to the exceptional performances of its clubs on the continental stage in recent seasons. Morocco closely follows, having clinched four continental titles between the Champions League and the Confederation Cup in the last four years.

Meanwhile, Algeria, crowned champions of the CAF Cup last season through the memorable feat of USM Alger, secures the third position. It’s worth noting that the first sub-Saharan African league on the list is South Africa (4th), narrowly edging out Tunisia.

Despite commendable results in recent years on the continental stage, prominent footballing nations in Africa such as Mali, Guinea, as well as Cameroon and Senegal, are noticeably absent from the CAF Top 12.
