African players are having a great time at Saudi club Al-Ahly, whom they joined in the last transfer window.
This was illustrated recently when Senegalese goalkeeper Édouard Mendy described Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessié as “the funniest player in the team”.
“Franck Kessie because he’s just crazy, you have to sit down with him every day to understand what I mean,” launched the “Lions” last bastion in a statement granted to the official “Saudi Pro League” account on the “X” platform (Twitter previously).

The Senegalese goalkeeper took part in 19 matches during the 2023-2024 season, conceding 23 goals and scoring 9 clean sheets.
After a difficult start, the former Chelsea goalkeeper seems to have rediscovered his best form.
This is excellent news for the reigning African champions, just a few weeks before the start of the African Cup of Nations.
Franck Kessié’s figures with Al-Ahly
The Elephants’ star midfielder scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists in 19 games played.
Back in top form, the former Catalan is considered one of the best players in the Saudi league.
