In an interview with Cameroon Tribune, Marc Brys shared his experiences and the challenges he has faced since being appointed head coach of the Cameroon national team, emphasizing the unwavering support from Cameroonian authorities.
“First of all, I would like to sincerely thank the Cameroonian authorities for the trust they have placed in me by entrusting me with the management of the Indomitable Lions. I extend my gratitude to the Prime Minister, Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, who welcomed me and my assistant, as well as to the Minister of State and Secretary General of the Presidency, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, who met with me twice when I was facing various difficulties and began to question my future as head of the national team,” Brys stated.
The meetings with Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, widely shared on social media, have highlighted this support. According to Brys, the Secretary General conveyed “the congratulations and encouragement of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, for our qualification for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.”
Marc Brys explained the joint efforts of Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh and the Minister of Sports, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, to address the issues he raised to improve collaboration with his staff and players. “I know he has worked closely with the Minister of Sports to find solutions to the concerns I expressed and to reach a compromise between MINSEP and FECAFOOT,” he revealed.
According to the Belgian coach, this compromise has gradually restored tranquility within the team. “This compromise is starting to facilitate our work, which is reflected in the team’s performances, especially with our two consecutive victories against Kenya,” he added.
