These defenders were chosen on the basis of their impact on the national team and, above all, their club career, whether in Europe or elsewhere. They are all among the most talented footballers to have left their mark on the history of African soccer. In this ranking, 3 players were vying for first place: Rigobert Song, Lucas Radébé and Samuel Kuffour. In the end, the former Bayern Munich player, impressive in his day and indisputable wherever he went, emerged as the number 1 choice.
