Maitre Augustin Senghor recently gave a significant clue as to the identity of the future coach of the Lions of Teranga.
The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) is expected to announce its choice in the coming weeks. In the meantime, the FSF president has revealed that the lucky man will probably be a Senegalese technician. The choice will probably be between three former Senegalese internationals: Pape Thiaw, Habib Beye and Omar Daf.
“We have to take this decision seriously, for our national team and for the Senegalese people. The Executive Committee will be looking into the matter in the coming weeks,” declared Maitre Augustin Senghor. He also made it clear that the FSF had no plans to launch an international call for candidates. “We remain faithful to our vision of giving preference to Senegalese technicians, whether they are based in Senegal or abroad.”
Thanks to his successful interim and the support of the players, Pape Thiaw is widely seen as the favorite to succeed Aliou Cissé. However, Habib Beye, consultant for Canal + and a firm favourite with Senegalese fans, could have his say. The former Red Star coach, who led the club to promotion to Ligue 2, also has a strong case for the job. As for the current Amiens coach, he seems less likely to be considered for the position.
