Stuttgart: total turnaround for Guirassy’s future?

After two seasons spent in Stuttgart, Germany, Guinean international Serhou Guirassy was expected to leave this summer. But a new development could change the situation…

Borussia Dortmund’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain (1-0) on Wednesday in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final brought joy not only to the Ruhr region but also across Germany. This success ensured that Germany solidified its place among the top two countries in the current UEFA coefficient rankings, guaranteeing them five spots in the Champions League next season!

This news delighted Stuttgart, in particular. Currently sitting in 3rd place, VfB is guaranteed to finish at least 5th, securing their participation in the next edition of the Champions League! It’s an impressive feat for a team that was fighting relegation playoffs just last year.

AC Milan in the mix, but…

The Reds have heavily relied on their top scorer, Serhou Guirassy, who is also the second-highest scorer in the Bundesliga with 25 goals, trailing behind Bavarian Harry Kane (35), with three matches remaining. With his release clause set at “only” €17 million, the former Stade Rennais player, recruited last summer after an impressive loan spell, seemed destined to leave this summer despite his contract running until 2026.

Recently, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that AC Milan, who were already interested in the striker’s profile in the winter, have resumed negotiations with Stuttgart. The Rossoneri would welcome the arrival of the Arles native to compensate for Olivier Giroud’s departure to the MLS. His highly affordable price tag, significantly lower than Joshua Zirkzee’s €50 million (Bologna), makes him a more than credible option.

Could Stuttgart’s qualification for the Champions League and the additional revenue it generates change the equation for the future of the Syli National striker (16 caps, 3 goals) and convince him to stay? We’ll find out in the coming weeks!
