A player from the Algerian national team receives some very bad news with his club in France, following a rather tough season with them.

Metz, led by Algerian national team player Kevin Guitoun, faced a setback in their quest to stay in the French Ligue 1 following a home defeat against Stade Rennais (2-3). This defeat occurred during the 32nd matchday of Ligue 1, with just two matches left in the current season.

In this encounter, former Algerian national team goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja was in goal for Metz against Rennes, while Kevin Guitoun, his compatriot, came on as a substitute in the 84th minute. The match saw Metz concede three goals, one of which was scored by Algerian star Amine Gouiri.

This defeat keeps Metz in the relegation zone, placing them 16th with a total of 29 points. The club finds themselves among the main candidates for relegation to Ligue 2, a competition they left just this season.

The upcoming challenges for Metz look daunting. They will first face Strasbourg in the 33rd matchday, another struggling opponent fighting for survival, before closing the season by hosting the reigning champions, Paris Saint-Germain, in the final matchday.
