AC Milan seems to be seriously considering parting ways with Ismaël Bennacer. The Algerian international, whose performances have been inconsistent lately, could leave the Lombard club as early as this summer.
Bennacer, who suffered a serious injury last season and has seen his form decline, struggles to regain his best level at AC Milan. His recent knee injury, which kept him off the pitch for several months, has weakened his position within the team.
According to the Italian press, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, newly appointed advisor to the club, may have played a key role in the decision to part with Bennacer. The former Swedish striker is said to have identified Youssouf Fofana, a midfielder from AS Monaco, as a potential successor. The dynamic and promising profile of the French international would meet AC Milan’s expectations to strengthen their midfield.
However, Bennacer’s high salary poses a problem for the Milanese club, which is looking to reduce its wage bill. With an estimated net annual salary of 3.8 million euros, the Algerian international is one of the highest-paid players in the team. This financial consideration could play a crucial role in the decision regarding his future at the club.
