The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and USMA are not out of trouble yet, as the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has reached out to the Algerian club to resolve the issue.

According to journalist Rafik Wahid, CAF contacted FAF regarding the Confederation Cup final held on June 3, 2023, at the 5-July Stadium. The new president of USMA, Othman Sahbane, failed to sign a document confirming the use of VAR, managed by a specialized company linked to CAF. This administrative formality is crucial for CAF to settle payments with this company.

By blocking this matter, Othman Sahbane has put FAF in a delicate position with CAF, especially since the body led by Patrice Motsepe is justified in requesting USMA to sign this document. Rafik Wahid points out that this situation demonstrates that the new management of USMA is not up to the task of managing a club of this stature.

Meanwhile, FAF has informed USM Alger that this negligence could have consequences for the club, advising them to avoid further conflict with CAF, especially as other disagreements remain unresolved. Regarding the RS Berkane case, USMA also faces potential sanctions from CAF, pending the ruling of the Court of Arbitration for Sport on their case.
