After the incident involving RS Berkane during the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final, USMA’s management has taken a decisive step…
Bosnian coach Mécha Bazdarevic has recently been proposed to lead USMA, catching the interest of president Athmane Sahbane. However, nothing concrete has been finalized yet.
USMA is still in search of their new coach. The past few days have been eventful regarding this matter. The planned arrival of Croatian Ante Cacic was canceled, leading President Sahbane to turn towards Tunisian Lassaad Dridi. Although discussions were advanced, this option has since cooled down for unknown reasons. Contacts were also made with another Tunisian, Nabil El-Kouki, without concrete success.
Recently, Mécha Bazdarevic, a 64-year-old Bosnian technician, has been proposed. Sahbane is interested in his profile due to his experience in France (FC Sochaux, EA Guingamp) and with the Bosnian national team (2014-2017). Moreover, Bazdarevic is fluent in French, facilitating communication with players. However, no official contact has been made as of yet.
President Sahbane aims to include former club figures like Azzedine Rahim and Lyes Benhaha in the new staff to improve communication. Sahbane hopes to appoint Juan Carlos Garrido’s successor by the end of the week to plan the offseason preparation and involve the new coach in player recruitment and the list of released players.
In 2018, Bazdarevic had nearly coached USMA but withdrew at the last minute due to personal reasons.
