A 23-year-old Algerian international midfielder is being eyed across the Channel.
Formerly with Paradou in the Algerian D1 until 2021 and now plying his trade at Courtrai in the Belgian D1, Abdelkahar Kadri could be on the move this summer. Cardiff City, in the Championship (D2) but aiming for promotion to the Premier League, is currently eyeing the Fennec, who has earned 3 caps for Algeria.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, a meeting took place last week between the player’s representatives and the Welsh club. Born in Baïnem, Kadri has just completed another strong season in Belgium, featuring in 33 league matches, scoring 4 goals, and providing as many assists. However, while not ruling it out, the player does not prioritize this destination. He still has two years left on his contract and is valued at around €2.5 million. Is this an opportunity to seize?
Not called up to the national team since October 2023, the Fennec is also being tracked by Saint-Trond (where he could join fellow countryman Zineddine Belaid), Club Brugge, Anderlecht in Belgium, and Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.

🏴 Cardiff City has a confirmed interest for Abdelkahar Kadri. Meeting happened last week-end with player side and #CardiffCity’s chairman in order to understand the intention from the Welsh club. Kadri’s priority isn’t Cardiff even if the appointment… pic.twitter.com/9JFvj30ZF8
A technically skilled player with excellent vision, Abdelkahar Kadri could enhance his visibility by joining the Championship, a league that, while in the shadow of the Premier League, is often seen as a stepping stone to English football’s top tier.
