After USMA, whose supporters were recently acquitted, the judiciary has made a decision regarding the Algerian Football Federation (FAF).

Indeed, the investigating judge of the economic and financial pole of the Abane Ramdane court in Sidi M’Hamed, Algiers, has decided to postpone to a later date the hearing originally scheduled for tomorrow. This hearing was supposed to involve former presidents of the FAF, former members of the federal bureau, and FAF employees.

Security services took the initiative to contact the individuals involved in the investigation by phone to notify them of this postponement. This change in schedule comes within the framework of an ongoing investigation conducted by the General Inspectorate of Finance and the economic brigade of the wilaya’s security directorate.

For several months, these institutions have been examining several financial issues that marked the management of the FAF between the years 2017 and 2023. This period was characterized by allegations of financial mismanagement and misappropriation of the federation’s resources.

The investigation aims to shed light on the management practices of the Algerian football governing body and to determine the responsibilities of the various actors involved. Accusations include financial irregularities, embezzlement, and opaque resource management.

This postponement provides judicial authorities and investigators with more time to deepen their investigations and gather further evidence. The former leaders of the FAF, meanwhile, will have to wait to explain themselves before the courts.
