For the crucial match against Guinea, the coach of the Algerian national team, Vladimir Petkovic, holds his ace in hand.
Algerian international and forward for the Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise, Mohamed Amine Amoura, concluded the 2023/2024 season among the top three Arab goal scorers playing in European leagues.
According to the ranking published by the “Sofascore” index, Amoura ranks third among the best Arab goal scorers, thanks to his 22 goals in 44 matches. He trails behind Liverpool’s Egyptian Mohamed Salah, who scored 25 goals in 44 matches, and Olympiakos’ Moroccan Ayoub El Kaabi, who netted 34 goals in 50 matches.
Amoura has not only shone through his individual performances but has also played a key role in his team’s success. He led Union Saint-Gilloise to victory in the Belgian Cup and helped his club qualify for the Champions League, after finishing the season in second place in the Belgian league.
Currently, Mohamed Amine Amoura is in camp with the Algerian national team after being called up by Vladimir Petkovic in preparation for the matches against Guinea on June 6 at the “Nelson Mandela” stadium in Baraki, Algiers, and against Uganda on June 10 in Kampala. These matches count for the third and fourth rounds of the World Cup qualifiers.
This exceptional season confirms the talent and steady progression of Amoura, who is emerging as one of the most promising forwards of his generation. His performances for both club and country will continue to generate interest and excitement among football fans in Algeria and beyond.
