The much-anticipated friendly match between Algerian club MC Alger, champions of Algeria for the 2023-2024 season, and Spanish club Sevilla has been postponed to a later date.
Originally scheduled for July 20th, this match was set to be the highlight of the summer for Algerian supporters, eagerly anticipating their team’s encounter with one of Europe’s top clubs.
However, the scheduling of the Algerian Cup final on July 5th made it impossible to hold the match as planned. This crucial date in Algerian football, potentially involving MCA, forced organizers to reconsider the calendar. Sevilla, on their part, had only one available date this summer, further complicating the situation.
The postponement of this match is disappointing for fans of both clubs, who were looking forward to a high-level spectacle and a thrilling clash between the Algerian champions and the renowned Spanish team. For MCA, it was also an opportunity to gauge their strength against a European opponent, a valuable experience for players and the coaching staff.
Despite this setback, discussions are ongoing to find a new suitable date for both clubs. Supporters remain optimistic and hope that the match can be rescheduled soon, allowing for a celebration of football and the strengthening of sporting ties between Algeria and Spain. In the meantime, MCA is focusing on their domestic commitments, particularly preparing for the Algerian Cup final, with hopes of adding another title to their already prestigious record.
