Vladimir Petkovic, the national team coach, is expected in Algiers next week to prepare for the upcoming national team gathering.

After spending several weeks in Algeria in April and May, taking the opportunity to explore the country and meet with the 16 teams of the Ligue 1, the Swiss coach had returned home. Now, he’s coming back to finalize the preparations for the national team camp, which officially kicks off on Monday, June 3rd.

Petkovic is set to announce the list of selected players for the two upcoming matches before the next weekend. The Fennecs will face Guinea on June 6th at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki, then travel to Kampala to play against Uganda on June 10th.

Compared to the former coach Djamel Belmadi, Petkovic stands out for his proactive approach and his involvement on the field. Indeed, Petkovic has already met with local clubs and closely assessed national talents, demonstrating a deeper commitment and better understanding of Algerian football, unlike Belmadi, who rarely took such steps. This approach allows him to build a more cohesive and integrated team, leveraging local resources.
