Algeria: two new surprises for Petkovic’s future list

Vladimir Petkovic, the head coach of the Algeria national football team, has embarked on a nationwide tour to scout promising young talents. This initiative aims to strengthen the national team ahead of their upcoming challenges, including two crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Uganda and Guinea in June.

With the absence of Ramy Bensebaini and Adam Ounas, Petkovic must fill these gaps by integrating new players to maintain the competitiveness of the Algerian team. In this context, local young players have the opportunity to showcase themselves on the national stage.

Among these hopefuls in Algerian football are talents like Bounacer, a defender at USM Alger and captain of the under-21 national team, who has distinguished himself with solid performances. Similarly, Boualia from JS Kabylie is drawing attention as a dynamic forward, potentially filling in for Ounas.

It should be noted that Ramy Bensebaini, although he qualified for the UEFA Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund, has been injured since the last camp in March and has not played since. Adam Ounas, on the other hand, has experienced a significant drop in form and has been relegated to play with the LOSC reserve team until the end of the season.
