The coach of the Algerian national football team, Petkovic, is gearing up to announce the expanded list of players who will participate in the team’s upcoming camp in June.

This list includes matches against Guinea and Uganda as part of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. The announcement is expected to feature several new faces, drawn from the talented pool of Algerian football.

According to a source close to the national team’s technical staff, Petkovic has been meticulously scouting several young talents playing in the local championship over the past few weeks. This period was marked by the coach’s extended stay in Algeria, allowing him to attend matches, visit club trainings, and meet with local coaches.

Petkovic’s expanded list notably includes Abdessamad Bounacer, a 19-year-old defender from USM Alger. Bounacer has stood out in the Algerian league as well as in the African Confederation Cup. He has formed a solid pairing with Zinedine Belaïd, the captain of his team, who has also been part of the Algerian selection since the era of former coach Djamel Belmadi.

Another player from USM Alger on the expanded list is Saadi Redouani, a 29-year-old right-back. However, his presence in the final list remains uncertain due to strong competition for his spot in the Algerian selection. Players like Youcef Atal and Kevin Guiton, who have regained form at their respective clubs in Turkey and France, are also in contention for this position.

Coach Petkovic has also set his sights on a duo from Paradou AC. Yacine Titraoui, a 20-year-old midfielder, seems destined for a European career next season due to his impressive performances with his team. His teammate, 21-year-old left winger Adel Belbina, is also present in Petkovic’s preliminary list. The coach is also very interested in the profile of Himad Abdelli, a player from SCO Angers.

The inclusion of young talents in the expanded list of the Algerian national team demonstrates Coach Petkovic’s intent to strengthen the team with new faces and to develop a generation of players capable of competing at the highest level. With their energy and ambition, these youngsters could well bring a new dynamic to the national team and enhance its chances of success in upcoming competitions.
