It seems like the journey of a famous player from the Algerian national team with his club in France is coming to an end…

The tumultuous story of 27-year-old Adam Ounas at Lille OSC appears to be reaching its conclusion. Since early March, the Algerian has been going through a tough period, marked by professional choices and challenges. Despite his initial enthusiasm to stay at the beginning of the season, the left winger now expresses desires to move elsewhere, as hinted by his coach, Paulo Fonseca, during the press conference prior to the match against FC Metz in Ligue 1 Uber Eats.

Fonseca’s response to whether the Algerian national team player would wear the first team jersey for the Dogues again was unequivocal. The Portuguese coach clearly stated, “It’s not up to me. It’s the player who wants to play for the reserve team or another team. For me, he will no longer be part of the group until the end of the season.”

Having arrived at Lille from Napoli SSC in the summer of 2022, Ounas has struggled to meet the challenge of consistency. Despite some good performances, particularly in February, he failed to establish himself at the Northern club. In 22 appearances, he was only in the starting lineup six times and scored just one goal.

This departure marks the end of a chapter for Ounas at Lille OSC. As the player looks towards new horizons, the club will have to figure out how to fill the void left by his departure and reorganize for the remainder of the season.
