After leaving Qatar following a brief stint at Umm Salal, Andy Delort is eyeing a return to France. The most likely destination for the Algerian international seems to have already surfaced!

Montpellier president Laurent Nicollin reportedly had a recent meeting with Andy Delort over lunch, as per the latest reports from Midi-Libre. This encounter has fueled speculation about a potential return for the player to the Hérault club. While nothing is confirmed yet, sources suggest that the MHSC leader is seeking clarity on Delort’s contractual situation, as he was recently released by Qatari club Umm Salal. It’s worth noting that although Delort has been released, his contract with the club officially runs until June 2025, with a transfer fee estimated at €2 million. Nicollin stated, “I’m waiting to have the truth” regarding this matter.

Delort, who had previously been linked with a return to Montpellier during the winter transfer window, is currently training with Ajaccio under the guidance of Olivier Pantaloni. He has consistently expressed his desire to return to Ligue 1. Nicollin had said last March, “When he terminated his contract with the Qatari club, he called me. If Andy had terminated within the legal dates (before January 31) and if he had been free, I would have taken him immediately. For a contract of six months or one and a half years.” The development of this situation is one to closely monitor.
