Algerian international player Baghdad Bounedjah has added a new problem to the series of difficulties faced by his compatriot, coach Madjid Bougherra, who is already in a challenging situation this season.
Al-Sadd’s team qualified for the quarterfinals of the Qatar Prince’s Cup after defeating Al-Markhiya with a score of 3-2. Bounedjah opened the scoring for Al-Sadd in the 17th minute, bringing his total to 14 goals in all official competitions this season, along with four assists.
On the other hand, coach Madjid Bougherra’s troubles have accumulated. Following his team’s relegation to the second division last Monday after losing the match to stay in the Qatar Stars League, the former coach of Algeria’s national A’ team was also eliminated from the Qatar Cup.
It should be noted that Bougherra, after leaving the ranks of the local Algerian national team following the CHAN in January 2023, joined Al-Markhiya at the beginning of the season, and his performance has fallen short of the club directors’ expectations. His contract with the Qatari club expires in the summer of 2026.
