In the latest FIFA rankings released this Thursday, the Algerian national football team has slipped one place, now standing at 44th in the world. This decline follows a series of mixed results, including a decisive loss to the Guinea team in recent qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
With a total of 1474.13 points, the team led by Algeria’s national coach, Vladimir Petković, has seen a slight decrease in their FIFA world ranking compared to the previous month. The defeat against Guinea proved costly, resulting in a loss of 9 points in FIFA’s ranking system.
In the African context, while Algeria maintains a respectable position, they are now seventh behind teams such as Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Tunisia. This competitive environment reflects the intense rivalry within continental football.
Regarding Arab representation, the Algerian national team ranks fifth, trailing behind Morocco, Qatar, Egypt, and Tunisia. This suboptimal position in the regional ranking underscores the need for the team to improve its performance as major international competitions approach.
Despite this slight setback, the national team remains determined to regain optimal form and enhance their performances in the months ahead. The coaching staff and players continue to work diligently to address observed weaknesses and prepare confidently for upcoming challenges.
Football fans in Algeria and around the world continue to support the national team in its quest for success and excellence on the international stage. With a base of passionate and committed fans, the team is encouraged to persevere and aim for positive results in the upcoming matches and tournaments.
