Algerian forward El Arbi Hilal Soudani, currently playing for Maribor, is in excellent form in Slovenia. At 36 years old, he scored his 13th goal in the league during Maribor’s 2-1 away victory against Olimpija Ljubljana, who are second in the standings.
The match started with the home team taking the lead and dominating the first half. Soudani should have been awarded a penalty, but that didn’t stop him from being influential in the second half.
Early in the second half, Soudani showcased his skills with a powerful low shot that forced the opposing goalkeeper to make a spectacular save, tipping it away for a corner (51st minute). He then equalized as a true poacher, pouncing on a rebounded shot from close range (65th minute), leveling the score to 1-1.
Ten minutes later, after an Olimpija player was sent off, Repas scored the second goal for Maribor (76th minute), securing the team’s victory.
The Algerian international continued to pose a threat until the end of the match. In the 88th minute, he created a dangerous opportunity by controlling a chest-high cross at the penalty spot, evading an opponent before unleashing a left-footed shot. His effort was narrowly diverted by the opposing goalkeeper.
