“His team-mates do this to him”: a Belgian legend’s lunatic comments on Amoura

Mohamed Amoura, the Algerian international, and his team, Saint-Gilloise, are facing a series of challenges in the competitive landscape of Belgian football. René Vandereycken, former coach of the Belgian national team, recently highlighted the difficulties encountered by Amoura and his team after their third consecutive defeat in the Champions League qualifiers.

The most recent loss, inflicted by Anderlecht, propelled the latter to the top of the Belgian league standings, while Saint-Gilloise struggles to regain its form and consistency.

Vandereycken has shed light on a critical aspect of the game: the lack of support and coordination with Amoura from his teammates. He expressed his opinion in a statement to the newspaper “News Blad”, stating that Amoura’s teammates are not playing with him in the right way. He emphasized the importance of involving Amoura in the game, pointing out that teams like Bruges and Genk do it too, focusing on specific players such as Hans Vanaken and Théo Bongonda.

“I think his teammates are not playing with him in the right way. Amoura is one of the players you have to play football with, but that was not the case. Teams like Bruges and Genk do it too, but those balls go to men like Hans Vanaken and Théo Bongonda. In the case of Saint-Gilloise, the ball should go to Nelson and not to Amoura,” he said.

Amoura, aged 23, has been a key player for Saint-Gilloise, scoring 22 goals and providing 6 assists in his 40 matches with the Belgian team, across various local and continental competitions. However, despite his individual performances, the team struggles to find cohesion and collective success.

Vandereycken’s criticism also underscores the need for a more strategic approach in Saint-Gilloise’s game. It is essential that the ball is directed towards key players to maximize chances of success. In the case of Saint-Gilloise, Vandereycken believes the ball should go to Nelson rather than Amoura to strengthen the team’s attack.

As the season progresses, Saint-Gilloise and Amoura must rise to the challenge of regaining their form and momentum to reverse their disappointing run of results. With tactical adjustments and better support among teammates, the team can hope to bounce back and reclaim its place among Belgium’s top teams.
