Algerian international Houssem Aouar has finally made a decision about his future at the club and is reportedly ready to leave AS Roma during the upcoming summer transfer window.
His recent exclusion from coach Daniele De Rossi’s plans is the main reason behind this decision. The midfielder has only featured in one of the last seven Serie A matches, against Udinese on April 25th. Since then, he hasn’t been called up, missing all the remaining games leading up to the final matchday of the season.
The club is considering an overhaul of its squad after nearly losing all chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season, currently occupying sixth place in Serie A.
De Rossi has already drawn up a list of players likely to depart this summer, including Houssem Aouar, who has failed to make an impact in Rome since leaving Olympique Lyonnais in hopes of revitalizing his career.
The current situation also jeopardizes Aouar’s place in the Algerian national team for the June camp, with his performances in Rome limited to just two matches since March. Aouar joined AS Roma last summer from Lyon on a free transfer, signing a five-year contract.
