Mohamed Amoura left Royale Union Saint-Gilloise (RUSG) this summer to join VfL Wolfsburg, a Bundesliga club, signing a five-year contract with them.

Returning to Belgium for a friendly match against Sporting Anderlecht at Lotto Park, the Algerian international forward quickly showcased his abilities. Starting under Austrian coach Ralph Hasenhüttl, Amoura scored in the 14th minute. Launched in depth, he beat goalkeeper Colin Coosemans to open the scoring.

This goal is the first for the former ES Sétif player in his new colors.

After the match, Amoura shared his thoughts with Het Laatste Nieuws. “I have to say it was more fun living in Brussels. But that doesn’t matter; I’m here to play football. And the Bundesliga is a superior league to the Jupiler Pro League,” he said with a smile. His first goal for Wolfsburg, a club that once hosted former national team captain Karim Ziani, seems to have whetted Amoura’s appetite, as he is determined to continue on this path.

Amoura also expressed his ambition to surpass his goal tally from last season in Belgium. “It’s always a great feeling to score, even in a friendly match. Next season, I will score another fifteen to twenty goals for Wolfsburg,” he promised.

To recap, during his transfer from Lugano, Mohamed Amoura scored eighteen goals for RUSG last season. Although the German league is more demanding, the Algerian is determined to maintain or even exceed his performance level.
