Algerian journalist Moumen Ait Kaci recently shed light on the situation regarding the rift between Riyad Mahrez and coach Vladimir Petkovic, who decided not to call up the Al Ahli player for the Algerian national team’s June camp.
According to Ait Kaci, the main issue stems from a communication and intervention matter. This reportedly bothered Mahrez, prompting him to break his silence.
Moumen Ait Kaci explains that in Mahrez’s professional career, he cannot afford to meddle in others’ affairs and feels obliged to clarify, not justify, because patriotism is demonstrated through actions, not words. The former Citizen accepts his exclusion decision from a technical standpoint but refuses to be slandered because, like every Algerian, he deeply loves his country.
The Expression journalist hopes everyone learns the lesson and works solely for the good of the national team. He concludes by expressing hope for the team’s success, stating, “Inshallah, we will succeed. Long live Algeria and the Algerians.”
As a reminder, Riyad Mahrez recently broke his silence and posted a message on the X platform, confirming that he had never received an invitation and that rumors about his failure to respond to the coach and FAF calls were unfounded.
