Abdulrahman Al-Asfoor, a former player for the Saudi team Al-Hilal, has sharply criticized the performance of Algerian international Riyad Mahrez after the match between Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli Jeddah.

In a statement to the sports newspaper Al-Riyadiya, Al-Asfoor claimed that Al-Ahli would not be able to stop Al-Hilal due to the serious defensive shortcomings of the green team.

Moreover, the former Al-Hilal player expressed his disagreement regarding the use of Riyad Mahrez’s skills by Al-Ahli Jeddah, stating that the player has yet to make a significant contribution to the team in the Saudi Pro League. “Al-Ahli Jeddah has not benefited from the capabilities of their Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, who has brought nothing to the team so far in the Saudi Pro League,” he said.

Al-Asfoor also highlighted that, in his view, Franck Kessie and Edouard Mendy stand out as the best foreign players for Al-Ahli Jeddah this season.

These comments shed light on the frequent tensions and critiques in the world of professional football, where individual performances of star players are often subjected to meticulous scrutiny. However, it is important to keep in mind that a team’s success depends on many factors, including tactical strategy, team coordination, and specific playing conditions.
