African Ballon d’Or : Émerse Faé Criticizes CAF’s Selections!

The head coach of the Ivory Coast national team, Émerse Faé, has strongly expressed his disagreement with the choices made by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding the selection of the best African players of 2024.

According to the Egyptian website Btolat, Faé criticized some of the names included by CAF for the title of the continent’s best player, stating, “I believe that Moroccan Achraf Hakimi, Algerian Amine Gouiri, and Congolese defender Chancel Mbemba do not deserve their spots on this list.”

Faé went on to label the absence of Egyptian Mohamed Salah and Ivorian Franck Kessié from the nominees for the prestigious CAF award as “completely illogical,” highlighting his confusion over these omissions.

Additionally, Émerse Faé revealed his favorite for the title of African Player of the Year 2024, stating, “I don’t always follow the league matches closely, but I know the South African goalkeeper from the CAN well, and I think he is the best.”

For the title of African Club of the Year, the Ivory Coast coach chose Al Ahly SC, explaining, “Al Ahly, the champion of the African Champions League…”
