With just a few days to go before the Ballon d’Or award ceremony, a major clue seems to be revealing the name of the next winner.
The soccer world is about to discover the successor to Lionel Messi, eight-time winner of the prestigious award, who is not, however, among the 30 finalists this year.
This guarantees that the Ballon d’Or 2023 will go to a new name, and the predictions point to Vinicius Junior, who won both La Liga and the Champions League last season, putting him ahead of contenders such as Bellingham, Rodri and Mbappé.
Madrid’s huge delegation to support Vinicius seems to reinforce this hypothesis. According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Real Madrid are preparing a major trip to Paris for the ceremony, with a delegation including Florentino Pérez, Vinicius, Bellingham, Valverde, Lunin, Carlo Ancelotti and even Kylian Mbappé. The presence of this five-star areopagus, including the influential President Pérez, suggests that the Madrid club has good reason to believe that the Brazilian will be crowned.
