Numerous personalities reacted to the awarding of the Ballon d’Or, notably highlighting Real Madrid’s absence from the ceremony. Among them, Luis Figo has attracted a great deal of attention.
Recently, a Twitter account of Real Madrid fans shared a quote allegedly attributed to the former player: “The Ballon d’Or is a prestigious award, until today.” Figo, who attended the ceremony as a former winner, was quick to react, denying the comments.
On social network X, he said, “I don’t know who manages this account, but please correct this post, or I’ll have to consider legal action, as these are not my words. If you’re looking for controversy, do it in court!”
However, the affair took an unexpected turn. Shortly after his clarification and threats of legal action for defamation, Figo deleted his message. A video in which he actually made similar remarks had emerged on social networks. Clearly, the former player, who initially seemed to deny his words, was faced with irrefutable evidence, forcing him to take responsibility for his statement.
