For Valère Bessala, Samuel Eto’o Fils should have understood that he was only allowed to win the presidency of the Cameroonian Football Federation because of his ability to distract Cameroonians.
“I said in 2022 when Samuel Eto’o was winning the elections, that he didn’t win them. They were given to him. We knew that just by his name, he could distract Cameroon for 4 years and Biya could sleep peacefully. It was just like that. If he didn’t perceive it that way, it was his problem.
He had agreed to play this game but he also had to understand that those in the corridors of power frowned upon him distracting the population while they wanted to focus the population’s anger to oust Paul Biya,” explains Valère Bessala. According to the Jouvence guide, detractors of Samuel Eto’o Fils also view it very negatively that he took “a shortcut to get to Etoudi”.
