A working session planned at the Cameroonian Football Federation this Tuesday with the new coach Marc Brys went terribly wrong. It was very tense at FECAFOOT this morning!

Samuel Eto’o had a heated altercation with Marc Brys, the Belgian coach of Cameroon. In Cameroon, tension is rising between Samuel Eto’o, president of FECAFOOT, and Marc Brys, the selected coach. Brys’s choice, supported by Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, was finally validated by Samuel Eto’o after weeks of uncertainty. The power struggle is intensifying between FECAFOOT and the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education. The conflict revolves around Brys’s coaching staff, for which there are two proposals: one from Eto’o and another from Minister Kombi.

For weeks, tension has been high in Cameroon and it has led to the inevitable: a heated public exchange, and in front of the cameras! A working session planned at the Federation this Tuesday with the new coach Marc Brys went very wrong. Indeed, Samuel Eto’o, president of FECAFOOT, did not tolerate a ministry advisor, also present, refusing a private meeting with Brys, whom he had welcomed with “welcome to your home”. Eto’o exploded against the ministry member. “You don’t have a say here. When I go to the ministry, I respect you. Here I am the only boss. This is the last time! Call security and get him out! This is the last time, do you understand!”

Problematically, the conflict then escalated as Samuel Eto’o asked Marc Brys to stay and therefore, to take sides with him against the ministry representatives. “Why are you talking to me like that?” Brys first asked before Samuel Eto’o flared up. “I am the President.

If you want to work with us… You are a coach because I appointed you. You are not a coach because someone else appointed you. You have made many shortcomings. If you don’t stay, I am obliged to consult my executive committee as the law requires. So I ask you once again, please stay here.”

Following these events, there are questions about the future for Marc Brys and Joachim Mununga at the helm of the Indomitable Lions. Eleven days before hosting Cape Verde for the 3rd round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Cameroonian football seems to be at a complete standstill, reflected by the two different player call-ups, one from FECAFOOT, the other from the Ministry of Sports.
