The leaders of Unisport du Haut-Nkam intend to apologize to FECAFOOT following their withdrawal request. This is becoming almost routine in elite championships in Cameroon.

Several clubs complain about their financial situation. The latest to do so is the Bafang club, Unisport. In a letter addressed to the Secretary-General of FECAFOOT, Alain Monthe, the club president announces their withdrawal from participating in the Cameroonian Cup for the 2023-2034 season.

“Our team is in a very difficult financial situation, and it is impossible for us to travel and field our players under these conditions. Allow me to remind you, Mr. Secretary-General, we have not received any subsidies since the beginning of this season, and maintaining our position in Elite 2 has not been easy given the conditions under which we took over this team.”

Contacted by our colleagues at CFOOT, the president of the club explained the motivations behind his letter this morning: “The objective was not to blame FECAFOOT, as they are not at fault. If we have not received any subsidies, it is because we have still not provided proof of payment of salaries [from last season, editor’s note], and this is due to the fault of the former management team which has prevented us until now from obtaining these proofs.

The letter to FECAFOOT was to encourage our supporters and sympathizers to mobilize to support the team because it is unacceptable that a team from a major department like Haut-Nkam, with all its elites, should be facing this type of situation… We will apologize to the federation for this letter,” Alain Monthe confided. It should be noted that Alain Monthe was appointed to this position just under a year ago, replacing Donald Ngameni, whom FECAFOOT had taken the care to suspend from Cameroonian football.
