For Alexandre Song, the Cameroonian gem of Brighton, Carlos Baleba, is the future of the Cameroon national team.
Currently representing Brighton in the English Premier League, Carlos Baleba has accumulated 21 appearances in the league, totaling 1122 minutes of play, promising figures for a player of his age at this level of competition. The Cameroonian midfielder has been nominated for the 2024 Golden Boy Award.
The list comprises 100 players under 21 years old who play in European leagues. According to Alexandre Song, the presence of the young midfielder is justified. He believes that Baleba is indeed the future of the Cameroonian national team.
“I think in the midfield of Cameroon, he is the future. He is a promising young talent with enormous potential. Coming to the Cameroonian national team is a plus. Not everyone gets to play in the Premier League. He plays in a high-level championship. He has the talent. The coach wants to have a solid team. We have big challenges coming up. We need to build a solid team to win these two matches. Baleba is a priority.
Pairing him with Zambo and Onana, we have a complete midfield. We have one sitting and two pivots who can do this job. The coach is right to rely on Carlos Baleba, who is a future great for Cameroon,” analyzed the former Arsenal number 6 on the CRTV Sports platform on Monday, April 15, 2024. Carlos Baleba was born in Cameroon on January 4, 2004. He began his football career at Futur Soccer, Douala. Baleba spent time at Grand Moulin before developing at the Ecole de football des Brasseries, Douala. He left Douala in January 2022 to join Ligue 1 side Lille.
