The new coach of Cameroon, Marc Brys, will make his debut in the World Cup qualification match against Cape Verde in June. Alexandre Song has suggested two players to him.

Former Arsenal midfielder Alexandre Song has advised Cameroon’s new coach, Marc Brys, on how to succeed as the new manager of the Indomitable Lions. The Belgian coach was confirmed as the coach of the five-time African champions earlier this month, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with Cameroon. The 61-year-old has begun preparations for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June against Cape Verde and Angola.

Song, who has played 40 senior matches for Cameroon, has suggested two players who could help Brys succeed as a coach.

“I think in the midfield of Cameroon, he is the future. He is a promising young player with enormous talent. Coming to the Cameroon national team is a plus. Not everyone gets to play in the Premier League. He plays in a high-level league. He has the talent. The coach wants to have a strong team. We have big games coming up. He needs to build a solid team to win these two matches. Baleba is a priority. Pairing him with Zambo and Onana, we have a complete midfield. We have one sitting and two pivots who can do the job. The coach is right to rely on Carlos Baleba, who is a future star for Cameroon,” he said.

Song also believes Cameroon should knock on France’s doors to recruit Cameroonian striker Hugo Ekitike, eligible, with Vincent Aboubakar nearing the end of his career. “Vincent Aboubakar is the last center-forward we’ve had in Cameroon. He has given so much. He is at the end. Ekitike is young. We should give him a chance. The national team is not the club. He comes to the national team. He can learn from Vincent Aboubakar. I’m not worried about him. He will do us a lot of good. We have young players coming up. Let’s give him a chance,” said the former Lions midfielder.
