André Onana, Manchester United’s goalkeeper, faced a tough period during his Premier League debut. However, despite the challenges, he now feels more confident in his decision to join the English club. The Cameroonian admitted to doubting his choice to move to the Premier League amid difficult beginnings at Manchester United.

The 28-year-old player replaced David de Gea at Old Trafford following a significant transfer from Inter Milan. The Cameroonian goalkeeper had a tough first season at Old Trafford, with several uncharacteristic errors costing him dearly. Although Onana’s performances improved in the latter half of the season, some mistakes had an impact on his team’s European competition pursuit.

Despite a difficult start to the season that raised doubts about his transfer from Inter Milan, the goalkeeper has since found his footing, expressing his satisfaction and renewed enjoyment in playing football.

In an interview with MUTV, Onana shared his thoughts on his first season in the Premier League: “Looking back now, I smile because it’s been a great lesson for me. At first, I was like, ‘Wow, did I make the right choice?’ but I’m 100% sure I made the right choice because Manchester United is the biggest club in this country and one of the biggest clubs in the world.” Despite the challenges faced, Onana remains optimistic about the future and the team’s ability to overcome obstacles. He emphasized that the entire squad shares his desire for success and that they are all determined to turn things around.

“I hope to have the answer, but football is not like mathematics, one plus one equals two,” he said, expressing the unpredictability of the sport. “We’ve had a terrible season, for me personally and as a group. I don’t think my teammates are satisfied with the situation we’re facing.”

Despite the challenges, Onana remains focused on the upcoming matches and the upcoming final, showing his determination to propel Manchester United to new successes.
