Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana still regards Inter Milan supporters as “like family” to him. The Cameroonian spoke to Italian channel DAZN while attending last night’s Serie A match between the Nerazzurri and Cagliari.

André Onana was at San Siro last night, a familiar stadium for the former Ajax goalkeeper. Though he may have spent just one season as an Inter player, he left a mark on the club, particularly with his outstanding performances in the Champions League. Conversely, the Nerazzurri also left a lasting impression on Onana.

Onana remarked, “I greet the Inter fans. To me, they are like family,” continued the 28-year-old player. “I am very happy to be here. Hello and warm hugs to all the Nerazzurri fans. We have always been united. I am here to give strength and congratulate the team,” Onana continued.

“I won’t be able to be here next week,” said the former Inter goalkeeper regarding the Nerazzurri’s derby against AC Milan next Monday, in which they could clinch the Serie A title. “But I took advantage of a day off today to be here for a historic moment. I am very happy for the team; they deserve it.”

When asked if he regretted his move last summer, Onana replied, “No. I am happy where I am,” said the Manchester United goalkeeper. “But I am happy for Inter. They are a fantastic team, with excellent teammates and a brilliant coach. It’s an emotional moment for me,” Onana said about his return to San Siro. “When I think about all we experienced last season…, it’s great to be here.”
