On Monday, April 6, 2024, the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) released a statement regarding the appointment of the new coaching staff for the Indomitable Lions A team.

“Following a written inquiry from FIFA regarding the mechanisms for appointing the technical and administrative staff of the Men’s National Team ‘A,’ the Emergency Committee of Fecafoot, convened today, has taken note of these recommendations and formally commits to implementing all actions capable of upholding respect for FIFA statutes as well as the laws and regulations in force in Cameroon,” reads the statement signed by Samuel Eto’o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot). From a well-informed source, it is learned that it was the Cameroonian Football Federation itself that approached the global football governing body.

“It is the Fecafoot itself that wrote to FIFA to accuse the Government of interference, FIFA responds citing the convention,” comments whistleblower Shance Lion. This idea is shared by some analysts within our circles. Indeed, according to Klein Reporters, the statement from Fecafoot released this Monday evening clearly explains that there have been pressures for weeks on FIFA to not only undermine the Indomitable Lions team but also the Cameroonian government.

If we are all patriots, why provoke FIFA knowing that FIFA’s only reaction would be to suspend our federation and sanction an entire state? For what purpose? “Pressure that, upon observation, has not led to the Fecafoot’s willingness to appoint its technical staff after 72 hours have passed. This statement clearly explains that the steps taken by Fecafoot regarding the appointment of a new staff have not succeeded neither at the level of the Ministry of Sports nor internationally – FIFA. If FIFA has indeed reacted (awaiting our receipt of this famous FIFA document), this would mean that Fecafoot’s efforts at the national level have failed and Fecafoot is thus disavowed,” continues Klein Reporters.

“In summary, nothing prevented FIFA, instead of serving us a reminder from Fecafoot, from issuing a statement specifying: ‘interference from the State of Cameroon in football matters and then directly issuing a suspension notice.’ But no, upon deep reading, it appears that Fecafoot’s pressure on FIFA to obtain a condemnation for alleged interference from the State of Cameroon and a threat of suspension did not truly work as intended. It is therefore possible that FIFA has endorsed the staff of the ‘High Instructions of the Head of State of Cameroon.’ For FIFA to react like this, it would require us to have gone on our own to complain to FIFA. If we are all patriots, why provoke FIFA knowing that FIFA’s only reaction would be to suspend our federation and sanction an entire state? For what purpose?” questions Klein Reporters.
